What you need to buy
Nothing is couriered to you and there is no kit to order from us. The clay set is the only real purchase, and the shaping tools come inside it — so there is no tool kit to hunt for.
Eclet 24 Pcs Air Dry Clay set
The one thing you really buy. 24 colours, and the shaping tools come in the box. Order from the link we send you so you get the right set.
Fevicol
Ordinary white glue from any stationery shop, for joining the pieces.
A piece of cardboard for the base
Any cardboard cut to the size you want. The flap of an old carton works.
Order the clay set a few days early. It is the one thing you cannot arrange at the last minute. We send you the link to the exact set so you do not order the wrong thing.
What you will learn
Taught one step at a time, on your own clay, with Indira building hers on screen beside you.
- 1Softening the clay, and keeping the rest of the set from drying out
- 2Cutting the cardboard base and building on it so the idol sits steady
- 3Shaping the body, the stomach and the folded legs
- 4The face - trunk, eyes and ears, broken into simple shapes
- 5Four arms, the hands, and the modak
- 6Crown, ornaments and the small details that make it look finished
- 7Joining the pieces with Fevicol so nothing comes away later
- 8Using the colours in the set, so there is no painting afterwards
- 9Smoothing joins and closing small cracks before the clay sets
- 10Drying it and keeping it safe until Chaturthi

You want a Ganpati you made yourself this year, not one off a shelf
You have wanted to make your own idol but never knew where to start
You want to sit and make something with your children this Chaturthi
You want a Ganpati your children can help shape, not one you queue up to buy
You have never touched clay and want someone to go slowly
You would rather be taught in Hindi than only in English
How the afternoon goes
11:00 am – 2:00 pm · live on Zoom
11:00 AM
Setting up
Opening the set, softening the clay in your hands, and cutting the cardboard base to size.
11:20 AM
The base and the body
Fixing the clay to your cardboard so it sits flat, then the stomach and the folded legs. Indira builds hers alongside you.
12:00 PM
The face and the trunk
The part everyone is nervous about. Broken into small shapes so it stops being intimidating.
12:40 PM
Arms, modak and crown
Four arms, the modak in his hand, the ears and the crown — joined with Fevicol so they hold.
1:20 PM
Joining and finishing
Fevicol where the pieces meet, smoothing the joins, and the last details that make it look done.
1:40 PM
Drying and keeping it safe
How to let it set, and how to store it so it is not knocked before Chaturthi. Questions until 2.
After the class
The idol is still soft when the class ends. Indira covers what to do with it over the next few days before you log off.
Drying
Air dry clay sets on its own - no oven, no firing. Leave it somewhere flat and airy, out of direct sun, and do not move it while it is still soft.
No painting needed
The set comes in 24 colours, so the colour is already in the clay you shaped. Nothing to buy afterwards and nothing to wait for.
Keeping it safe
Once it is firm, put it somewhere it will not get knocked until Chaturthi. Indira shows you how to store it at the end of the class.

Common questions
Do I need any experience with clay?+
No. This starts from opening the packet of clay. Indira builds the idol along with you, one step at a time, and you can hold your work up to the camera whenever you are stuck.
Where do I buy the clay?+
We send you a link to the exact set - Eclet 24 Pcs Air Dry Clay. Order it a few days before so it reaches you in time. The shaping tools come in the same box, so there is nothing else to hunt for.
Is any material included in the fee?+
No. The fee is for the 3-hour live class and the recording. You order the clay set yourself from the link we send, and add Fevicol and a piece of cardboard for the base.
What if I miss the live class?+
The recording is available for 1 month, so you can watch it and make your idol whenever suits you. Live is better though, because Indira can look at your idol and correct it as you go.
Which language is it taught in?+
Hindi and English, mixed. Indira explains each step in both so nothing is missed.
Will the idol be ready in time for Chaturthi?+
Yes. Air dry clay sets on its own with no oven and no firing. Leave it somewhere flat and airy, out of direct sun, and do not move it while it is still soft. Indira tells you exactly how to look after it.
Do I need to paint it afterwards?+
No. The set comes in 24 colours, so the colour is already in the clay you shaped. Nothing to buy afterwards and nothing to wait for.
Can my children join me?+
Yes. One booking covers your screen, so children can sit with you and work on their own small idol alongside.
What do I need to attend?+
A phone or laptop with internet for Zoom, and a table to work on. Prop your phone up so both your hands are free.
What if I cannot attend after paying?+
The fee is non-refundable, but the recording is yours for a month so nothing is lost. Message us on WhatsApp if something comes up.
