Who this course is for

Made for women learning crochet properly — at whatever pace the week allows.

Mothers at home

A skill that fits around the house and the children. Picked up for ten minutes, put down, picked up again — nothing expires while you are busy.

Students and working women

Something of your own outside college or the job, with no fixed class time to make room for. Watch it late at night if that is when you are free.

Already crocheting a little

You picked up a few stitches from YouTube and got stuck somewhere. This fills the gaps in order, and takes you through to a finished cardigan.

Starting from nothing

You have never held a hook. The course starts at the slip knot and assumes you know nothing, because most people joining do not.

Why not just YouTube?

There are plenty of crochet tutorials on YouTube, and some people do learn from them. Here is the honest difference.

Order

Inside the group

What a normal week in the WhatsApp group looks like — photos of where you are, and Kritika answering.

WhatsApp group chat: a student posts four stitch swatches, then a half double crochet sample
Stitch swatches, posted the same afternoon they were made.
WhatsApp group chat: Kritika replies to a student's triangle with a photo of how to make it more pointy
Kritika looks at every photo and shows what to fix.

By the end of the course, you will...

Know all the basic stitches

Slip knot, chain, single crochet, double crochet, half double, triple — every stitch the rest is built from.

Read any crochet pattern

Increases, decreases and pattern notation, so you can follow a pattern you find anywhere.

Make crochet flowers

Sunflower, rose and tulip — with wire worked in so the stems hold their shape.

Create an amigurumi toy

A stuffed figure worked in the round, the thing people will ask you to make for them.

Make a granny square cardigan

Squares joined into a cardigan you will actually wear — and sized to fit you.

Finish your work cleanly

Attach a zipper and make neat button holes, so a piece looks finished rather than homemade.

What is inside the course

Every lesson in order, and what you actually do in it. Each one builds on the last.

Getting started

  1. 1

    Introduction

What the course covers, how to work through it, and what to have in front of you before you start.

  2. 2

Types of yarn, gauge and hook sizes

The varieties and thicknesses of yarn, what gauge means, and how to pick the right hook for the yarn in your hand.

  3. 3

Stitch markers and the darning needle

The two small tools that do the most work — where to put a marker, and what the darning needle is for.

The stitches

  1. 4

    Slip knot and chain

The first loop, and the row of chains everything else is worked into.

  2. 5

    Single crochet

The shortest stitch, and the one you will use most.

  3. 6

    Double crochet

Taller, faster, and the backbone of most patterns.

  4. 7

    Half double crochet

Between the two, and worth knowing properly.

  5. 8

    Triple crochet

The tallest of the basic stitches, for open, airy work.

Shaping and patterns

  1. 9

    Increases and decreases

How a flat square stops being a square and starts being a shape.

  2. 10

    Reading a pattern

The abbreviations and notation, so you can follow a pattern you find anywhere.

Beginner projects

  1. 11

    Scrunchie

Your first finished thing, done in an evening.

  2. 12

    Card holder

Small, useful, and good practice at keeping your tension even.

  3. 13

Coaster, magic ring and changing colour

Working in the round from a magic ring, and changing colour without leaving a bump.

  4. 14

    Trinket holder

A small bowl worked in the round, shaped with increases.

  5. 15

    Granny square

The square most of the later projects are built from.

Flowers

  1. 16

    Sunflower

Petals, centre, and keeping it lying flat.

  2. 17

    Rose

Worked as a strip and rolled, so the petals sit the right way.

  3. 18

    Tulip

A closed bud, and how to keep its shape.

  4. 19

    Incorporating wire in flowers

Running wire through stems and leaves so they stand up on their own.

Bigger projects and finishing

  1. 20

    Amigurumi toy

Worked in the round and stuffed, with the parts joined so they sit straight.

  2. 21

    Granny square cardigan

Squares joined into something you can actually wear.

  3. 22

    Attaching a zipper

Setting a zip in by hand so it lies flat and does not pucker.

  4. 23

    Making button holes

Holes that are the right size, in the right place, and do not stretch.

  5. 24

    Top

The last project, and the one that uses most of the course.

Kritika has been crocheting for over 5 years. What started as a hobby turned into a craft she now teaches, sells, and studies at the university level — she is currently pursuing her Masters in Design.

She runs @crochet_bliss_ on Instagram, where she shares her work — from intricate amigurumi animals to granny square bags and wearable pieces.

Her teaching is patient and hands-on. She does not just show you what to do — she explains why a stitch sits the way it does, and what to look at when yours does not.

Common questions

Do I need any prior crochet experience?+

No. The course starts at the slip knot — how to hold the hook, how to make the very first loop. If you have never touched a hook before, you are exactly who this was made for.

Why pay when YouTube is free?+

You can learn crochet from YouTube, and some people do. What you do not get there is order — one video assumes you know a stitch the last one never taught, every teacher holds the hook differently, and when your work goes wrong there is nobody to ask. This is one teacher, in order, from the slip knot to a finished cardigan, with a group you can ask and a call with Kritika every week.

How long do I have access?+

One year from the day you join. Watch the lessons as many times as you like in that year — most people rewatch the stitch lessons several times, and that is normal.

How do I get the course after I pay?+

By email. As soon as your payment goes through we send your course access to the email address you enter at checkout, so use one you actually check. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, look in your spam folder — and if it is still not there, call us and we will sort it out.

Can I ask doubts?+

Yes. You join the WhatsApp group where you can ask Kritika and the other learners anytime, and there is a group doubt-clearing call with Kritika on Zoom every week. Post a photo of where you are stuck — that is usually faster than describing it.

How long does it take to finish?+

That is up to you — there is no timetable to keep up with and nothing expires except your year of access. Most people do a section a week alongside work and finish in a couple of months.

What materials do I need?+

Crochet hooks in sizes 3, 4, 5 and 6, acrylic yarn in a few colours, cotton yarn, chenille yarn for amigurumi, a darning needle, stitch markers, scissors and stuffing. Wire and a zipper come up later in the course. You can also buy a complete kit from us after you join — just message us on WhatsApp and we will sort it out.

What if I get stuck and want to give up?+

Everyone gets stuck at increases and decreases, and almost everyone gets stuck the first time they try amigurumi. That is what the group is for. Post the photo, someone answers, you carry on.

Can I really sell what I make?+

By the end you will be able to make flowers, amigurumi and wearables to a standard people pay for, and Kritika covers how to photograph and price your work. We are also building a marketplace on rachni where you can list what you make. What you earn from it depends on you and the work you put in.

What is the rachni marketplace?+

A marketplace we are building right here on rachni, where you can list and sell what you make without needing your own website or figuring out Instagram selling. It is coming soon.
